Dawn Gilkison currently owns one dog, Deagan, a Large Munsterlander. Deagan is a hunt, point, and retrieving breed who pursues upland birds and waterfowl with Dawn and her partner and is in training for agility competition. Nicky, a Border Terrier, recently passed away at age 17.
In addition to owning and operating Positive Solutions Dog Training (Portland, Oregon metro area), Dawn teaches biology at a community college and previously was a high school science teacher.
Dawn earned a B.A. in Biology from Reed College where she first became interested in animal behavior, a M.S. in Biology from San Diego State University where she researched social behavior in captive wolves, and teacher certification from Lewis and Clark College. Dawn is also a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner. All this education has created a life-long learner who continues to apply the science of animal learning to the art of dog training.
